Technology News Tracker: Autonomous Vehicles are Going Cabless

Spread the love

Cabless machines are the next stage of autonomous vehicle development as manufacturers move closer to removing operators from the equipment.

Scania recently debuted its AXL fully autonomous concept truck which has no cab.

The AXL is steered and monitored by an intelligent control environment.

Komatsu is currently testing its cabless autonomous haul truck, first unveiled in 2016.

Equal load distribution to all four wheels and four-wheel drive, retarder and steering enables shuttling in forward and reverse for improved productivity.

Removal of the operator cab also eliminates the need for various
components, simplifying the design of a machine.
